Aren't these Kantha quilts so pretty? I love how the colors and patterns mix perfectly. Kantha – literally means, “quilt of recycled cotton rag” and is traditionally associated with rural women of the Bengal region of India and has a long and distinguished heritage. Made from layers of discarded sari joined by a simple running stitch which, typically produces a wonderful rippled effect in the quilt. Find them here and here.

Etsy Favorites....Earth & Sky
These hot summer days in D.C. have made me want to get away...anywhere really...as long as it's a wide open space with overcast skies and that perfect smell that nature gets right before it's going to rain. Is that really so much to ask? Here are my Etsy favorites for today...

Minor White
I love these black and white photos from photographer Minor White. His use of light gives each photo a haunting, spooky quality. Minor White was an American photographer and poet who was born in 1908 and died in 1976. In his later work, he was thought to be one of the greatest American photographers.

Horse Feathers
Here's a live video of Horse Feathers, a Portland-based band, at NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. For whatever reason, watching this video made me think about Oregon. Made me think about the forests and moss and beaches and rain. I grew up there and moved away when I was 10 to Texas with my family. I feel like no matter where I go, Oregon is what feels like home. This video is long...but very pretty.

I've been seeing this great summer basic all over blogs and in stores. Here are a couple photos that are my favorites. Maxi skirts are so versatile and completely comfortable. What do you think of the style?
