Jazz-Age Lawn Party

I have been seeing photos from the Jazz-Age Lawn Party held on Governor's Island in New York City on a bunch of blogs recently. The Sartorialist was there and as usual took some stunning photos. Here is a round-up of my favorites.

Pretty Summer Dresses

I have been looking for the perfect summer dress. While searching a couple dresses caught my eye. I think I am leaning more towards romantic looking, lacy dresses for the summertime, but I would absolutely love to find a 1930's crochet dress for a night out.

Photo Inspiration

Sorry for the long lapse in blogging. I have had a crazy week filled with getting lost in the woods and lovely bike rides. I spent the weekend camping with my dear friend, Nicki. I promise I will be a better blogger this week....
These photos were taken by photographer James Jowers during the 1960's and 1970's in New York City. They are a part of the George Eastman House collection. Thanks, Betsy!

Helena Christensen's Home

I absolutely love these scans from the Selby of Helena Christensen's home in New York. These are from the May issue of Paris Vogue. Helena's messy, bohemian style and lovely decorations give her house a homey, lived-in feeling. I think I have a mild case of house-envy.

Summer Dress

Today we started out with the best intentions. We were going to take all of our old books to a book swap in Baltimore and explore some antique stores in the area. Instead we got distracted by a yummy sushi restaurant along the way and ended up stuffing ourselves. (This seems to be a regular occurrence on Sunday for me.) In the end we decided to head home for an afternoon nap (my favorite). I guess Baltimore will have to wait for another weekend.

Wardrobe Remix

Dress: Thrifted (I think it is a maternity dress or maybe a night gown)
Tights: Target
Shoes: Thrifted
Purse: Garage sale
Jacket (in picture below): Ebay

Today was gray, rainy and a bit strange. Like one of those days when you have just a little too much coffee and can't keep still.
